(ANSA) - TRENTO, AUGUST 16 - A large landslide at Cima Uomo in Marmolada broke off this afternoon on the side facing the Fassa Valley.

An aerial survey was carried out with the experts of the Geological Service, in order to know the Civil Protection of the Autonomous Province of Trento.

According to what is learned, the presence of hikers who got involved is excluded.

The landslide that broke off on Cima Uomo, 3,010 meters above sea level in the Dolomites, in the Marmolada massif, has a volume between 100 and 200 cubic meters.

According to what has been learned, the collapsed material did not affect particularly popular paths, which are located further north and climb up the ridge that leads to Val Contrin.

The event took place around 5.30 pm a hundred meters below the summit: there is still fractured rock so the passage in the immediate vicinity will be forbidden with an ordinance.

The situation, according to what is learned, is not particularly problematic from a geological point of view, although other collapses are possible in the coming days.

The cause is difficult to establish.
