A good three months after the beginning of the non-public murder trial against a now 15-year-old, the verdict was made on Tuesday at the Magdeburg Regional Court.
The second juvenile court sentenced the youth to nine and a half years for murder.
The court saw it as proven that he killed his ex-girlfriend of the same age in November 2021 as a 14-year-old in Aschersleben in Saxony-Anhalt.
According to a spokesman, the court's verdict was just under the maximum sentence, which is ten years for murder for a young person.
An appeal to the Federal Court of Justice is possible against the verdict, said the court spokesman.
The case had caused horror beyond the borders of Saxony-Anhalt.
In November of the previous year, 14-year-old Josefine was reported missing on a Thursday.
According to the police at the time, she wanted to meet her ex-boyfriend on that day to hand over personal belongings.
After that she couldn't be reached anymore.
Several days later, the girl's body was found in a garage complex in Aschersleben.
