August 16th is Bratwurst Day!

Today is a happy day for all sausage and grill lovers: inside, because it's all about the (Brat)wurst!

This holiday was created in the United States.

Strange, since Germany is considered the homeland of the bratwurst.

And Germany is aware of its responsibility and strictly checks what can and cannot be called sausage (if you are interested in that, I recommend you take a look at the “German Food Book for Meat and Meat Products”).

About 42 different types of sausage are currently recognized, differing mainly in size, ingredients and spices.

The acclaimed Bratwurst is generally a meat product that is available in the market as a raw scalded or cooked sausage.

Depending on which region you are from.

It doesn't matter where and what kind: the main thing is that it tastes good!

You can prepare our quick Schupfnudel pan with any bratwurst.

What you put in the pan is sausage for us!

Bon appetit!

That's how it's done:

You only need a few ingredients:

  • 3 tbsp oil

  • 4 sausages, sliced

  • 200 g onions, diced

  • 2 garlic cloves, chopped

  • 1 tsp salt

  • 0.5 tsp pepper

  • 1 pinch nutmeg

  • 1 tbsp flour

  • 100 ml white wine

  • 200 ml whipping cream

  • 500 g Schupfnudeln ad the refrigerated shelf

  • 4 tbsp chives

  • Fried onions (optional)

The preparation is quick:

  • Heat oil in a pan.

Fry the bratwurst, onions and garlic in it for 5 minutes.

Season with salt, pepper and nutmeg.

  • Dust with flour and fry briefly.

  • Deglaze with white wine and bring to the boil while stirring so that no lumps form.

  • Pour in the cream and Schupfnudeln and simmer until the desired consistency is achieved.

  • Serve with chives and fried onions.

  • Bon appetit!
