Adele Milloz was only 26 years old.
The former world champion in ski mountaineering and a companion died in an accident on the Mont Blanc massif in the French Alps.
This is reported by several international media unanimously.
The British "Daily Mail" first reported the death of the French woman.
According to the report, other climbers had discovered the bodies of the two women a few days ago at an altitude of around 3,000 meters and alerted the French gendarmerie.
The police have started investigations.
The exact circumstances of the fatal accident are still unclear.
Investigators said it was an accident.
The accident happened on the Chamonix side of the mountain - on a classic mountaineering route to the Aiguille du Peigne, which was not considered too difficult.
»The high mountains have become even more dangerous due to the drought.
But access was not explicitly forbidden," said a spokesman for the gendarmerie, according to the Daily Mail.
"We will miss her smile forever"
According to the report, Milloz had twice won gold at the Winter Military World Games in Sochi in 2017.
In 2019 she ended her career and started training as a professional mountain guide, it said.
The dismay at the death of the two women is great.
The chairman of the Chamonix mountain guides, Olivier Greber, told the AFP news agency: “Adèle was a radiant young woman.
We all feel infinite sadness today." The French Mountain and Climbing Federation said: "We will miss her smile forever."
