A new face at the "heute-journal": Anne Gellinek will moderate the news program from time to time.

In addition, the 60-year-old takes over the post as the new ZDF editor-in-chief.

Today she will greet the viewers for the first time, the broadcaster said.

On the following three days she will also present the »heute-journal« together with Gundula Gause.

On October 1, Gellinek will succeed Bettina Schausten as chief editor for news and deputy editor-in-chief of ZDF.

Schausten becomes editor-in-chief and succeeds Peter Frey, who is retiring.

Gellinek has been the head of the ZDF studio in Brussels since 2015.

She has been reporting for the station for around 30 years.

On Monday, August 22, the "heute-journal" week begins again with moderator Marietta Slomka.

The following week, Christian Sievers moderated again.
