Assertiveness and decisiveness - these qualities are often attributed to managers.

But other factors are also important.

Managers are generally assigned certain characteristics that they should correspond to.

They are usually assertive, self-confident and decisive.

A study by consulting and research firm

Potential Project

in collaboration with various universities has found that soft skills are also crucial.

Science on leaders: Compassion and wisdom matter

It turned out that other requirements also apply to managers today: "What is needed today are managers who approach the hard aspects of their job in a humane way." According to the study, this is best done with compassion and wisdom.

The researchers also define what exactly they mean by the keywords.

They understand wisdom as the courage to deal transparently with other people and to do what is best for the job or the company, even if it becomes uncomfortable.

By compassion, the researchers mean the concern and empathy that should be shown towards other people and the willingness to help and support them.

The research shows that employees experience better well-being and higher productivity when they work for leaders who show compassion and wisdom.

5,000 companies in almost 100 countries were analyzed for the study.

The aim was to find out how satisfied employees are with their managers.

According to information from Businessinsider

, the researchers then analyzed

the data of over 2,000 executives by gender.

According to this, around 55 percent of employees described their female supervisor as "compassionate" and "wise".

Only 27 percent of employees attributed these qualities to their male superior.
