There's hardly anyone who doesn't like grapes, and we totally get it.

Now new research from Western New England University shows that eating grapes may add up to five years to your life by preventing chronic diseases.

The researchers even describe the results of the study as "amazing".

Grapes are rich in chemicals that increase gut bacteria and lower cholesterol.

They also contain antioxidants that suppress inflammation in the body, and reduce the risk of heart disease and cancer.

The researchers in the current study claim that eating grapes regularly can also combat the bad effects of junk food by eliminating fats and refined sugars in processed foods.

The study's author, Dr. John Pezzoto, who is the author of over 600 articles in the scientific literature, said he was particularly amazed by these results. Talk to adults about eating food.

But these studies add a whole new dimension to this old adage.

Not only does food become our body organs, but as our work with grapes has shown, it actually changes our genetic expression.

It's really amazing."

Protects against Alzheimer's?

In a series of experiments, mice were fed a high-fat diet commonly consumed in Western countries.

Some of them also received a daily supplement of grape powder, equivalent to a small saucer of the fruit.

The results showed that rodents whose diets were supplemented with grapes had less fatty liver and lived longer than their peers.

"The change observed in the study would correspond to four to five additional years in a person's life," says Pezzoto.

The team also finds that grapes improve the function of neurons, and protect against Alzheimer's disease.

In addition, they had positive effects on behavior and cognition - which was impaired in mice fed a high-fat diet without the grape extract.

"These results indicate the potential of grapes to regulate gene expression, prevent oxidative damage, induce fatty acid metabolism, improve the condition of the fatty liver and extend life when given together with a high-fat diet."

Recent studies also show that eating grapes reduces the risk of having a heart attack or stroke.

"These data illustrate the extraordinary impact of nutrigenomics, an emerging field of research that will increase our appreciation of nutrition and health," adds Pezzoto.

Nutrigenomics is an innovative field of science in which genomic sequencing technology is used to investigate the relationship between different genes, nutrition and health.
