After six months of work, with the funds obtained from the sale of over 40,000 bags of salad, the restoration of the 17th century "Ushak" medallion carpet from the nucleus of 14 oriental carpets from the Franchetti collection of the Ca 'd'Oro was completed. from Venice.
The recovery and conservative restoration, as part of the "A plot to be revealed" project, a program for the enhancement of the artefact and for its exhibition in the museum itinerary of the Venetian institution, was carried out by the Conservation and Restoration Center La Venaria Reale, and saw the collaboration between public and private which involved, in addition to the Center, the Veneto Regional Museums Directorate, the producer of salads in bags "Gli Orti di Venezia" and Nova Coop.
The collaboration has seen the Regional Directorate of the Veneto Museums, together with the Giorgio Franchetti Gallery at the Ca 'd'Oro, owner of the carpet, identify the work within its deposits and among the objects that needed restoration, to now find a new location within the museum visit itinerary.
The La Venaria Reale Conservation and Restoration Center Foundation took care of the study and restoration of the carpet in its laboratories.
The Orti di Venezia supported the restoration through the contribution deriving from the sale of salad packs in the Coop sales points in Piedmont and through a capillary activity of information and awareness towards consumers regarding the themes of restoration and protection of textile products.
