Jonah Hill is partially retiring from the spotlight.
The actor and director no longer wants to promote his films at public events in the future.
The 38-year-old wrote in an open letter.
Hill is known for films such as "War Dogs", "The Wolf of Wall Street" and "The Art of Winning - Moneyball".
His performances as a lead and supporting actor earned him Golden Globe and Oscar nominations.
Most recently, Hill appeared in the film Don't Look Up.
He directed the youth drama »Mid90s«, for which he also wrote the screenplay.
His new film "Stutz" helped him to realize this.
The documentary is about Hill and his therapist.
The actor wants to show the audience what he learned in his therapy.
He realized "through the journey of self-discovery" in the film that he had been suffering from anxiety attacks for almost 20 years.
Media appearances intensified the attacks.
Hill is grateful that the film will premiere at a festival in the fall.
"However, you won't see me out there promoting this film or any of my upcoming films." He's doing it for his own protection.
