At the Klinikum Mitte in Bremerhaven, a larger police and fire brigade operation is underway, the reason is a bomb threat.
Emergency services evacuated the clinic, a police spokeswoman said.
The fire brigade and rescue service were in the process of bringing patients from the hospital to safety.
According to initial information, there are around 40 people, as reported by the dpa news agency.
The bomb threat was received by the clinic late Thursday afternoon, as the dpa police spokeswoman said.
The officials were initially unable to provide any information on the content and the author.
Numerous emergency services were deployed and requested – explosives detection dogs were also on site, said the spokeswoman.
The police advised people in Bremerhaven on Twitter to avoid the area.
The Klinikum Mitte is located just north of downtown Bremerhaven.
According to the operator Ameos on the clinic website, the house had around 180 inpatient beds in 2017.
