Manchester United footballer Cristiano Ronaldo has been warned by police over an outburst of anger after a Premier League game last season.

The matter was closed, said the police in Liverpool.

According to the British media, the English Football Association wants to start its investigations against the 37-year-old Portuguese again.

After the Red Devils' away defeat at Everton on April 9 (0-1), a video appeared in which Ronaldo appeared to slap a mobile phone out of a young fan's hand.

That had caused great outrage.

Liverpool police have confirmed a 37-year-old man was being questioned as part of the investigation into possible bodily harm and property damage.

Ronaldo publicly apologized for his freak out shortly after the incident and invited the fan to a football game in Manchester.

"It's never easy to control your emotions in difficult moments like these that we're facing," Ronaldo wrote on Instagram.

"Nevertheless, we must always be respectful and patient."

bottom of the table in the Premier League

Ronaldo had let himself be carried away to the action in a phase in which things were going badly in sport.

His club missed out on the Champions League under German coach Ralf Rangnick after a disappointing season.

Ronaldo has never played below the Champions League since his first move to United in 2003, nobody has scored more goals in the premier league than Ronaldo (140).

Things are going badly in the new season too: Manchester United, after all the English record champions, are bottom of the table after two games with zero points.

Most recently, the team lost 4-0 at Brentford FC.

Ronaldo in particular is under criticism.

Portugal's record goalscorer has been insisting on a change for weeks.

But his advisor Jorge Mendes can't find a buyer (read more here).
