(ANSA) - ROME, AUGUST 18 - The crews of the Canadair and helicopters of the State Air Fleet, coordinated by the Civil Protection Department, were engaged from the first light of the day in the extinguishing of numerous forest fires for which air support to the operations was essential carried out by teams on the ground.
According to the data available at 18.30, 21 requests for air competition received by the Department's Unified Air Operational Center (COAU), of which 17 from Sicily, Calabria and one from Abruzzo.
The intense work carried out by the pilots of the air vehicles has allowed to control or shut down, up to now, 12 drugs.
The activities of launching water and retardant and extinguishing liquid will continue as long as the light conditions allow to operate safely.
