The remains, discovered in suitcases bought at auction from a depot in the New Zealand city of Auckland, were of two school-age children, police confirmed.

Inspector Tofilau Faamanuia Vaaelua said the bodies could have been in storage for several years and that the victims were probably between the ages of 5 and 10.
