Period romance dramas are one of Hollywood's most popular genres.
For every case that worked well, there are examples that did not leave a positive mark, such as "The Other Boleyn Girl", even the shiny names of Natalie Portman and Scarlett Johansson did not save it from the abyss of oblivion.
"Crayfish Song", based on the book by Delia Evans, which sold more than 15 million copies worldwide, is one of those movies that we will not get to talk about favorably in the future, if at all.

The film follows Kaya, a girl whose entire family left her as a child and who raised herself alone in a swamp in North Carolina.
The absolute majority of the people of the town where she lived ostracized her without trying to get to know her, and even gave her the derogatory name "the egg girl".
Although she has developed surprising adaptive and survival skills, her life changes when she develops a romantic relationship with two young men from the village, and of course everything gets even more complicated when she becomes the main suspect in the murder of one of them.
The romantic triangle at the center of which is Kaya (played by the compassionate Daisy Edgar-Jones from "Normal People") fails to drag the viewer along, as at no point is empathy created for those involved.
Handsome actors are not a guarantee of successful chemistry between actors, and it's a feeling you can't shake off while watching.
Even the court scenes, where the young woman claims her innocence, do not leave any impression but mainly leave the viewer indifferent.
"Crayfish Song" tries to zigzag from romance to legal thriller, but director Olivia Newman fails to do so.
She tried to bring an immersive and exciting drama to the big screen, but instead she served the audience a cold and filthy leftovers that no amount of additional heating and seasoning could save from destruction.
The romantic triangle is not overwhelming.
