The energy crisis continues.
Economists are therefore now proposing the regular payment of an energy allowance to middle- and low-income families.
Kassel – In addition to inflation and rising energy costs, measures to relieve households in Germany are still being discussed.
Some economists also consider a monthly energy payment to be an important measure.
Marcel Fratzscher, President of the German Institute for Economic Research, suggested payments of 100 euros per person per month
in an interview with the
German Press Agency (dpa) .
These should be paid out over a period of 18 months.
In an interview with
RTL
, Fratzscher explained that such a payment could be an important means, especially for families with a gross income of less than 5,000 to 6,000 euros.
Fratzscher said in an interview that this was a "precise and sufficient relief" to cope not only with rising electricity costs, but also with food costs.

Reduce the burden on households and families with an energy flat rate
A new edition of the energy flat rate could also be a means of relieving households.
This was suggested by Sebastian Dullien, scientific director of the Institute for Macroeconomics and Business Cycle Research of the Hans Böckler Foundation, in an interview with the
dpa
.
Above all, this should take into account those who do not benefit from the current flat rate.
Dullien primarily mentions retirees with low incomes who do not receive housing benefit.

Measures taken by the federal government to date to provide relief during the energy crisis include the 9-euro ticket, a subsidy for heating costs for those receiving housing benefit, and the fuel discount.
A one-off energy lump sum for all income taxpayers was also decided in March.
This is to be paid out in September.
Instead, the unemployed received a one-time payment in July.
A new relief package could follow as early as autumn.
