(ANSA) - ROME, AUGUST 19 - The expensive energy caused by the war in Ukraine continues to eat up the surplus in Italy's trade in goods and services with foreign countries, which in the twelve months to June 2022 reaches 9.2 billion euros from 71.4 billion in the same period of the previous year.
The decrease in the current surplus - the Bank of Italy explains in the document accompanying the data - is almost entirely due to the reduction in the merchant surplus (15 billion, from 75), which continues to be affected by the greater energy deficit ". The deficit in services is also worsening (-9.8 billions, from -8.1). (ANSA).
