Energy prices are rising.

There are many tricks to save money, including a cool shower.

Read here why you should take a cold shower from now on.

37.30 cents per kilowatt hour (kWh): This is the current electricity price according to the Federal Association of Energy and Water Industries (as of July 2022).

Converted, this means average electricity costs of around 1,300 euros for a household that consumes 3,500 kWh per year.

An enormous sum – which can be reduced.

Above all, heating behavior has an enormous influence on electricity costs, according to information from the

Süddeutsche Zeitung

(SZ).

The SZ quotes Stadtwerke München as saying that the heating consumes around 80 percent of the energy that a private household buys.

But even a change in daily routines saves energy and therefore money.

No longer constantly turning on the kettle, turning off the lights when you leave the house, not leaving the air conditioning on with the windows open: If you follow a few rules of conduct, you can prevent the shock of seeing the utility bill.

The cold shower also has savings potential.

The Association of Energy Consumers has calculated that every citizen has to pay more than 600 euros a year for a hot shower.

The calculation is based on a daily eleven-minute shower at 40 degrees Celsius and an electricity price of 30 cents/kWh.

According to the Association of Energy Consumers, around 176 liters of water and 6.1 kWh of energy would be consumed every day.

A total of 668 euros in electricity costs would be incurred just for showering, it is said.
