Covid Italy: 124 deaths, 24,691 positive. Rate at 15.5%. Rezza, 'the indexes drop but the virus circulates'

24,691 new infections from Covid have been registered in the last 24 hours, according to data from the Ministry of Health.

Yesterday the infected were 27,296.

The victims are 124, down from 147 yesterday.

The swabs made are 158,905.

The rate is 15.5%, down from yesterday when it was 16.3%.

On the other hand, 260 patients admitted to intensive care (-8), while daily admissions are 26. On the other hand, 6,782 patients are admitted to ordinary wards, 243 fewer in the last 24 hours.

The current positives are 799,423, 18,575 less than yesterday.

Discharged and healed are 20,632,612 (+43,140) while the total number of cases since the beginning of the pandemic is 21,606,606 and that of deaths is 174,571.

"Also this week the number of new Covid cases in our country continues to decrease" and "there is a tendency towards a decrease in congestion in health facilities. The virus continues to circulate despite the summer period, but the incidence is lower compared to that of a few weeks ago; however, it is good to make the usual reference to caution especially in the presence of large groups, and to a sense of individual responsibility. And we remember the strong recommendation to vaccinate for the over 60s and the frail ".

The incidence of Covid-19 cases and the Rt transmissibility index in Italy are still decreasing: the weekly incidence at national level is in fact equal to 260 every 100,000 inhabitants (12/08/2022 -18/08/2022) against 365 per 100,000 inhabitants last week (05/08/2022 -11/08/2022).

In the period 27 July - 9 August 2022, the mean Rt calculated on symptomatic cases was instead equal to 0.77 (range 0.74-0.80), a decrease compared to the previous week, when it was equal to 0.81 .

This is highlighted by the weekly monitoring of the Higher Institute of Health and the Ministry of Health on the progress of the Covid-19 epidemic

The percentage of cases detected through contact tracing activity is stable compared to the previous week (14% vs 13%).

The percentage of cases detected through the onset of symptoms was stable (45% vs 44%), as was the percentage of cases diagnosed through screening activities (42% vs 43%).
