(ANSA) - ROME, AUGUST 19 - The Ukrainian state nuclear company Energoatom said today that Russian forces plan to dispatch the power blocks of the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant and disconnect them from the Ukrainian electricity grid.

"We have information that the Russian occupation forces are planning to shut down the power blocks of the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant and disconnect them from the Ukrainian electricity grid. Currently the Russian army is looking for supplies of fuel for diesel generators which should be switched on" after the stop, to power the cooling systems, we read in the Energoatom note, reported by Ukrinform.
Ukrainian intelligence also received new confirmation of reports of Russian preparations for a "large-scale provocation".
