In North Rhine-Westphalia, emergency services searched for hours for a lost jogger after a night-time alarm.
The partner of the 28-year-old reported to the police after he had not returned from his run after two hours as usual, as the police in Iserlohn announced.
Accordingly, on Thursday evening around 9:00 p.m. in Plettenberg, he set off for his usual run.
This should last about two hours because he was training for a competition.
At around 2:45 a.m., his girlfriend called the police and asked for help.
Officials called hospitals and began searching.
A helicopter was also used from around 5:00 a.m.
A person tracking dog had also already been ordered when the search came to an abrupt end.
The man returned home around 6:20 a.m.
According to the police, he got lost in the woods and couldn't find his way back in the dark.
So he spent the night in the forest and started home again at sunrise.
