(ANSA-AFP) - MOSCOW, AUGUST 19 - Stars Coffee, the Russian chain that replaced the American coffee giant Starbucks in Russia after its abandonment due to the Ukrainian conflict, today opened its first restaurant in Moscow to the public with the "Bucks" logo is gone, stars are left ".

"Why the stars? Because the new brand brings together the stars of the food industry," Russian rapper Timati and restaurateur Anton Pinski, who acquired Starbucks' 130 premises in Russia at the end of July, said in a statement.

Brown in the traditional colors of the American chain - green and white - was added to the logo and the little mermaid was replaced by a girl wearing the "kokochnik", a traditional Russian headdress.

The coffee syrups will be locally produced, while the menu of dishes and desserts will be completely redesigned by new chefs to offer "better quality than ever," Stars Coffe said in a statement.

Unlike the "Russian McDonalds" launched in June with great hype, Stars Coffee did not have a big advertising campaign for the opening of its first restaurant in NovyArbat, in the center of the Russian capital.

Last night there was a modest official ceremony for some celebrities and a handful of reporters.

According to the owners, all restaurants in the chain should open in Russia by the end of September.

About 80 percent of the roughly 2,000 employees who worked for Starbucks agreed to stay with the new chain, the same source said.

Starbucks, which temporarily closed all of its 130 locations in Russia after the start of the Russian offensive in Ukraine on February 24, announced in late May that it had decided to leave the country for good.
