"It flowed like a shower."
Several residents of the Émergence residence in Bussy-Saint-Georges (Seine-et-Marne) were victims of major water leaks in their brand new apartment.
The scourge occurred following violent storms that hit much of the country on August 16th.
“The water flowed through the electrical outlets, the ceiling lights,” warns Denise, an owner of an apartment affected by the deluge.
"I heard drops of water falling from the ceiling," she continues.
From 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., the water did not stop flowing.
Denise had to use a bucket, squeegee, sheets and towel to scoop.
“Fortunately I was at home at the time, otherwise I don't know in what state I would have found my apartment”.
The inhabitants accuse the promoter of the residence
For now, five apartments have seen damage following these "floods" because several apartments in the same building are uninhabited or their owners are on leave.
Residents accuse the developer of the residence, Nexity of being responsible for a design problem with the roof.
"They came the day after the storm and after a quarter of an hour they had determined the problem," said Mathieu Caron, a member of the condominium syndicate.
The floods have added to the nightmare already experienced by the inhabitants of the Sycomore eco-district.
The buildings were delivered almost two years late.
Several build issues have been reported.
Among them, a flaw in the design of the underground garage which prevents the proper drainage of water on the ground, badly placed pergolas and spaces of abandoned vegetation.
Some residents collectively plan to file a complaint against the promoter.
Nexity promoter's response
“Following the storms that occurred in the last few days, we noticed sealing problems at the level of the Émergence residence due to the exceptionally heavy rains.
Nexity went to the site on Wednesday to assess the damage and find the fastest and most appropriate response.
Our technical team went on site today to resolve the situation as soon as possible”.
