A 20 meter high pier tower in Bremerhaven has been in a crooked position for a few days.
In the night of Thursday, the north mole, at the top of which the tower stands, had lowered.
Work on dismantling the tower has now begun.
With high water pressure, the listed red dome should first be detached from the masonry of the tower, as the spokesman for the port operator Bremenports announced.
The port operator Bremenports has commissioned an external company to do this.
Should they succeed in detaching the dome, it will be removed during the week.
If the plan doesn't work, those responsible want to let the tower fall over in a controlled manner.
