Anyone who used to smoke a pack a day and stops now can save a lot of money in the years to come.
It's several thousand euros.
A cigarette costs an average of 32 cents.
That doesn't sound like much at first, but very few smokers are satisfied with just one.
Heavy smokers puff away more cigarettes a day.
So if you smoke a pack of 20 cigarettes a day, you have to shell out between 7.30 and 7.60 euros, depending on the brand.
Over days, weeks, and months, that adds up significantly.

But now that food and energy prices are skyrocketing, some are considering quitting smoking.
Finally, the forthcoming heating season is viewed with great concern.

If you start quitting smoking now, you can even save up to 2,330 euros within a year!
This is shown by a calculation by the federal government's drug commissioner's savings calculator.
The calculation goes as follows: With one pack a day, you get 1,282 cigarettes a year.
Calculated over 20 years, you even have 46,600 euros more in your pocket, they say.

In addition, every move is at the expense of your own health.
However, the savings calculator has another advantage.
Accordingly, you can also specify at the beginning how much money you want to save.
He then calculates how long you would have to remain smoke-free in order to reach the savings target.
Some calculation examples:
Eleven cigarettes less a day: 100 euros savings in one month
20 fewer cigarettes a day: savings of 2,330 euros in one year

To do this, it plans to significantly reduce the nicotine content in tobacco.
In addition, the government wants to ban young adults from smoking completely.
