Lidl and Kaufland: Something is changing in the parking lots – “Contribution to the traffic turnaround”

Lidl and Kaufland customers can expect a change in the parking lots of some branches.

The aim is to make a contribution to sustainable mobility. 

Neckarsulm - There's also a lot going on in the parking lots of the discounters and supermarkets, and not just because of the traffic of arriving and departing shoppers.

Many dealers are setting up a network of charging stations.

Some charge it for free, but Aldi now charges an electric car for charging.

However, it is expected that Lidl will follow suit.

Innovation in the Lidl and Kaufland car parks: Schwarz Group is cooperating with Nextbike

The Schwarz Group is now coming up with something new.

The company wants to promote sustainable mobility through a cooperation with the bike rental company Nextbike.

Rental bicycles are available in the parking lots of some Lidl and Kaufland branches.

According to a statement, the aim of the cooperation is to make “an additional contribution to the traffic turnaround”.

All rental bicycles are equipped with a bicycle basket for transporting purchases.

According to the Schwarz Group, handling should be “quick and uncomplicated”.

Customers registered with Nextbike can therefore rent bikes around the clock directly in front of the branches via app.

The designated parking areas should be marked with appropriate floor markings.

The return is possible at any Nextbike station within a city area as well as in defined areas at the roadside.

Incidentally, Nextbike was taken over by the e-scooter rental company Tier about a year ago.

Innovation in the Lidl and Kaufland car parks: Cooperation initially only in a few branches

First, Nextbike wants to make rental bikes available in front of 18 Lidl and two Kaufland branches in North Rhine-Westphalia.

The start took place at locations in Bochum, Bonn, Duisburg, Düsseldorf, Essen, Gelsenkirchen, Hamm, Herne, Cologne and Oberhausen.

The cooperation is to be further expanded in the future.

However, when or to what extent this is to take place is left open.
