The energy price flat rate of 300 euros is to be paid out in September.
But what to do if the money still doesn't end up in the account?
To give people in Germany at least a little relief from the rising electricity and gas prices, the federal government has introduced the energy price flat rate (EPP) as part of its relief package.
All employees subject to income tax in tax brackets 1 to 5 and mini-jobbers (in their first employment relationship) receive a one-time subsidy of 300 euros.
Unfortunately, students and pensioners are not among the recipients.
But pensioners can at least get the lump sum with a trick.
The payment of the energy flat rate is to take place in September.

Energy price flat rate: Payment from September together with the salary
The energy price flat rate of 300 euros will be paid out by the employers in September 2022, together with the wage or salary.
The EPP is then listed separately on the pay slip, according to
Chip.de
under the term “other remuneration”.
The 300 euros should also be listed on the income tax certificate for 2022 with the note “E” for “one-time payment”.
Since income tax is payable on the energy flat rate, you will receive less than 300 euros net, depending on the tax class.

That could be the reason
You did not receive the energy price flat rate in September?
In fact, not every employer has to pay out the EPP in September - some are allowed to pay it out later or are even exempt from it altogether.
According to the Federal Ministry of Finance, the following exceptions apply, for example:
Employers who submit the wage tax declaration quarterly can also pay out the EPP to the employee in October 2022.
If the payment can no longer be made on time in September 2022 for organizational or accounting reasons, the payment may also be made later in 2022 - but at the latest by the time the employee's wage tax certificate is sent.
If the employer submits the wage tax registration annually, he can even waive the payment to his employees entirely.
Employers who are not obliged to submit an income tax declaration also do not pay out any EPP.

What should I do if I have not received a flat-rate energy price?
In cases where the employer does not have to pay out an energy flat rate, employees can access the energy flat rate via the 2022 income tax return.
Mini-jobbers who have failed to confirm their first employment should also use this method to get their money back.
Good to know: Employees who do not start at the company until October 1st, recipients of parental allowance and some others are also entitled to the EPP.
You can also get this via the 2022 income tax return.

All others should generally receive the energy flat rate with the September statement.
If the amount is still missing on the wage or salary slip, you should seek clarification with your employer.
Some groups of people can even collect the energy flat rate twice and then receive 600 euros.
But the anticipation does not last long in this case, because you also have to act if the EPP is paid out twice.
