Elections, Letta: 'Choice is between us and Meloni-Salvini'

"The electoral law has a majority - says the leader of the Democratic Party Enrico Letta to Radio Capital -, so in a third of the constituencies only one wins, the first. Which means that the small parties here cannot elect anyone. A I don't like this law but this is it. You can't erase this with an imaginary wipe: the vote is either here or there, or you vote for a right with Meloni and Salvini or the only alternative that can compete is us, it is an objective fact ". 

"I have no difficulty in saying that it is easier for us to dialogue with Calenda and Conte than with Salvini and Meloni, we will see what the result will be and then we will dialogue with those with whom it is easier to dialogue", added Letta, answering those who ask him of possible future post-election arrangements.

"The theme of the dialogue will arise after the elections but now the electoral law provides that we take sides either here or there, with the center-left or with the center-right. The 5S have excluded themselves by dropping the Draghi government and go to the elections alone ", he concludes.

"Work, rights, taxes: the vote is a watershed, here or there. We want to give Italians an alternative to those who believe that Italy governed by Meloni and Salvini would be a setback".

Letta stressed that Orban's proposal for the family model of Hungary is far from what the Democratic Party looks to and to which Europe looks.

For the president of Forza Italia, Silvio Berlusconi, on Rtl102.5: "We allies have different languages. However, we have decided that the party that will have the most votes will express the prime minister".
