"Oops!

… I Did It Again” is one of her biggest hits, now US singer Britney Spears (40) has done it again: After almost six years, she has recorded a song.

Spears released Hold Me Closer with British pop star Elton John (75).

Both are happy on Twitter about the success of their cooperation.

Elton John wrote on Twitter on Friday that he was "thrilled" with the reactions to the song.

He wanted to do a happy summer track and was thrilled when Spears agreed to be a part of it.

"She really is an icon," he said of the singer.

On Friday she posted a short video message on Twitter.

"Hello Sir Elton John, we are number one in 40 countries," the singer said happily.

She will have "the best day ever."

It was "damn cool to sing with one of the greatest classics of our time".

"Hold Me Closer" was released on Friday and went straight to the top of the iTunes charts in many countries.

Elton John had already presented the song together at a surprise performance on Tuesday on the Côte d'Azur in Cannes.

It's a remake of his 1971 title Tiny Dancer.

Spears celebrates a musical comeback.

It is her first music release since her 13-year tutelage ended last fall.

The singer has been under guardianship since 2008 after she collapsed mentally due to personal and professional problems.

A California court gave her full control over her life again in 2021.
