Brazilian striker Henrique Dourado has been suspended for a year and will have to pay a fine of 200,000 yuan (about 29,000 euros) for clashing with a referee during a Chinese first division match.

This was announced by the Chinese Football Federation.

In a match at Henan Songshan Longmen, the former Fluminense and Flamengo player hit a referee in the back at full speed in the 16th minute of the 2-2 draw against Wuhan Yangtze River last Sunday, in a way that seemed intentional.

The 32-year-old player, after knocking the referee to the ground, was immediately sent off, while his team, which had a 2-0 lead before the red card, was then back on par.

"We hope that everyone can together preserve the good order of the competition and the environment necessary for the development of football" said the Federation announcing the suspension of the player.

It is not the first time that the Chinese Federation has imposed heavy penalties on a player in case of misconduct.

Another Brazilian was suspended in 2017: Oscar, bought by Chelsea for 60 million euros from Shanghai Port, was suspended for eight games for causing a big fight during a match.
