(ANSA) - FERRARA, AUGUST 27 - An authentic 'exhibition machine' will be born, by spring 2024, in the sign of the art and legacy of the Oscar-winning director from Ferrara, Michelangelo Antonioni, with movable walls, wings, a portion dedicated to projections, another to the 47 thousand documents of the Fondodonato from the director and his wife, Enrica Fico, to the Municipality of Ferrara and one to the temporary exhibitions, which will alternate continuous relationship with the other arts from which Antonioni was inspired and with the authors with whom he came into contact.
These are the elements of the Spazio Antonioni project, worth € 1,750,000 (financed with municipal funds), which will be approved in days, marking a new step in the process that will lead in less than two years to the complete redevelopment of the premises of the
current Pavilion of Contemporary Art (Pac) at Porta Mare.
"It will be - anticipates the commissioner Marco Gulinelli - a unique environment in Italy, completely dedicated to Antonioni's cinematographic and artistic material, with cultural stimuli ranging from painting to photography and with exhibition flexibility and international scope".
For the entire duration of the works, from January 2023, the CAP will remain closed.
Promoters of the initiative are, with the municipal administration, the president of Ferrara Arte, Vittorio Sgarbi, and Enrica Fico.
Curator is Dominique Païni, former director of CinémathèqueFrancaise.
