Since numerous products in the supermarket are becoming more expensive, customers should pay close attention to the codes on the price tags.

There is also a specific time rule for Brot und Ost.

You should know three codes for this.

Because even if, in the past, people at the discount chain Lidl and sister company Kaufland from the Schwarz Group preferred to avoid making concrete statements about price increases, manufacturers like Unilever are open about it and explain that products are becoming more and more expensive.

Manufacturers are raising prices, retailers are following suit and customers have to be even more careful when shopping.

Codes can help with shopping: products have been more expensive again since August

Numerous products only became more expensive again at the beginning of August.

So consumers should now pay 1.19 euros at Lidl, Aldi or Rewe for the cheapest whole milk baking glaze.

In the previous month it was still 69 cents.

Baking powder has also increased.

According to Focus, the cheapest 15-gram bag of ten now costs 65 cents.

In July 2022 it was 59 cents.

Vanilla sugar and cocoa also became more expensive.

With a view to the Christmas business in the food trade, experts expect a further increase in numerous products from October.

Shopping at Lidl, Kaufland and Co.: Customers can save money with these codes

It is important for customers to pay attention to three special codes on the supermarket shelf when shopping.

They are worth real money.

Products such as fruit, vegetables, fresh milk, yoghurt, fish, meat and bread can be bargained for with certain labels - especially during the current heat wave.

But how do customers in discounters or supermarkets, such as Lidl and Kaufland, know whether they can pack a cheap product.

The decisive codes can be found on the respective price tags.

It's about the letters "T" and "TS".

Wherever these letters are on, customers can get the product at a lower price at certain times.

A “T” stands for daily check.

The "TS" is the identification for daily inspection Saturday.

• The “T”: Products with this letter on the price tag will be sold at a lower price just before the store closes.

  Most often these are foods such as fruit, vegetables, yogurt and dairy, fish and meat.

• “TS”: The marking of the Saturday day check indicates that new goods will be cleared into the sales area on Saturday.

  Old goods are then offered for up to 80 percent cheaper.
