A giant python wrapped around the car - or not?

Bangkok, the capital of Thailand, is known for its hundreds of temples, but also for the thousands of snakes that inhabit it.

The city's emergency center workers report that every year, they capture and remove about 60,000 snakes.

Inquiries from residents regarding the removal of snakes arrive at an average rate of about one every 15 minutes during the day.

The hotline, numbered 199, is designed to deal with animal hazards and pests - a much more common problem in the city than many believe.

Thai news site The Thaiger reports that these statistics were released after a photo - which quickly went viral online - was published.

The photo shows a huge multi-choked snake ("bolt snake") hanging from a tree in the Din Daeng district of Bangkok.

This case caused a lot of panic among the residents of the area.

And we haven't even talked about the wasps and the giant lizards

Workers at the emergency center in Bangkok explained that they receive about 200 calls for help every day, with half of those calls dealing with snakes.

The rest of the readings deal with animals defined as harmful, including wasps, water power lizards (the second largest species of lizard in the world, reaching a length of 2-1.5 meters) and more.

Upon receiving the call and arriving at the location, the workers capture the animal and hand it over to the personnel of Thailand's National Parks, Wildlife and Plant Conservation Division.

There they are released back into the open nature, in a living area suitable for them, away from urban areas.

According to the data, 90 percent of calls related to snakes end in the successful capture of the snakes.

However, when you look at the glass half empty, according to this figure, between 3,000 and 6,000 snakes that managed to escape from their captors still roam freely in the city.

A snake's life: minimum enemies, maximum prey

Although it seems that the urban environment, especially in such a bustling city, is a place that is not suitable for snakes, it must be taken into account that in the city they have no direct natural predators.

The main dangers for them are related to being run over by vehicles.

For this reason, the rate of their culture in the city is quite high.

The organization of zoological parks in the country estimates that in each of the 50 districts of Bangkok, there are about 1,000 snakes.

These enjoy a life with minimum enemies and maximum prey.

The organization says that "the large population of snakes in Bangkok is due to the fact that the citizens of the city do not consume snakes. That is, the reptiles have no direct predators in the city while they have an abundance of prey such as dogs, cats and chickens."

These estimates are only educated guesses, and they are not based on having no official count of the snake population in the capital city, so the numbers are only educated guesses.

But, of the snakes caught in Bangkok, generally, about 10% are pythons and 90% are polychaetes.
