She had the sensation of the evening with her: US pop star Taylor Swift not only won three prizes at the MTV Video Music Awards, but also used the stage for a surprise.

Swift had previously given no indication that she was working on a new album.

The 32-year-old singer is considered one of the most famous pop musicians in the world and has received awards for the best music video, among other things.

The prizes of the music channel MTV have been awarded since 1984 by voting by the fans.

This year, the ceremony took place on Sunday evening in Newark, New Jersey.

Numerous great musicians did the honors.

In addition to the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Lizzo, Nicki Minaj, Snoop Dogg and Eminem, among others, performed.

The best artist was Bad Bunny from Puerto Rico, and the Brit Harry Styles took home the award for the best album.
