(ANSA) - ROME, AUGUST 30 - In July, the peak of deaths between over 80, probably due to the heat wave that hit Italy.
Istat says this by explaining that in the first 6 months of 2022 there are 357 thousand deaths, that is 21 thousand less than in 2020 and 16 thousand less than in 2021 but still 6% more than the 2015-19 average and adding that in the month of July there has been a reversal of the trend: "in fact, it is estimated that there are over 62 thousand deaths, a number that is about 20% higher than in previous years".
Instead, it happened in 2015, "a year in which there was a significant increase in the number of deaths mainly due to climatic factors".
