Tank discount ends: Many are now bunkering fuel - but is that even allowed?

The tank discount ends on September 1st.

But is that actually allowed?

Tank discount ends: Up to 20 liters of petrol can be stored in garages
Motorists who should have the brilliant idea of driving up several times with their car and several canisters to the pump should take a look at the garage ordinance of their state.
For example, the Bavarian Garage Ordinance for the storage of combustible substances stipulates that up to 200 liters of diesel fuel and up to 20 liters of petrol may be stored in tightly closed, unbreakable containers in small garages.

contains all regulations for the construction and operation of garages and their guarantee for safety.
The garage ordinance is particularly important
on fire protection.
At the same time, the aim of using garages is to relieve the burden on public roads as parking spaces.
Each state has its own garage ordinance.
In Bavaria, paragraph 17, paragraph 4 applies to the storage of combustible materials.
In order to avoid unforeseen deflagration or ignition of the fuel stored under your own garage roof, you should make sure that plastic canisters are one hundred percent airtight," recommends the ADAC.
Tank discount ends: Gasoline can be stored for many years
Incidentally, petrol and diesel, as well as heating oil, can be stored for many years and months.
There is no fixed best-before date for these substances - "provided the substances are tightly sealed, cool and stored in dark tanks or canisters", says Christian Küchen from the Association of the Mineral Oil Industry.
Therefore, consumers who store such substances at home should make sure when buying that the canisters are also approved for storage.
They can be recognized by the so-called RKK approval (RKK stands for reserve fuel canister).
