BeReal, the social media that challenges Facebook and Tik Tok, is currently working on a feature that allows users to discover and view the posts of "friends of friends".
The site Peta Pixel writes it, which reports the indiscretion of the developer Alessandro Paluzzi.
The currently unedited functionality would be a leap forward for the app born at the end of 2019 and remained muted until a few weeks ago when it reached 10 million active daily users.
The app was born in France with the slogan "Your Friends for Real", it has neither likes nor filters but offers - as explained by its founder Alexis Barreyat - "what friends do in full authenticity".
It is also available in Italy.
It is not the first time that alternative apps are born, especially to the Zuckerberg galaxy, in the past there were Diaspora and Ello then ended up in oblivion;
or that there are technological flares such as Clubhouse, this too has not broken through, rather it has made the market for vocal content and podcasts grow.
Meanwhile, other more established social networks such as Instagram and Snapchat are starting to copy some BeReal features, a sign of popularity.
While the platform wants to make the difference, so much so that in the description on the App Store it states that its app "won't make you famous" and "if you want to be an influencer, you can stay on TikTok and Instagram".
"BeReal can at most remain a niche app, but it will not be able to undermine Instagram simply because most people want to dream, show the best of their lives, not the insignificant moments that everyone has in common", is the opinion of Vincenzo Cosenza, expert of social media.
