After years of users clamoring for it, Twitter is testing the 'Edit' button that will allow you to change the tweets, an option that was not allowed until now and instead possible on other social networks such as Facebook and Instagram.
In a tweet on its official profile, the company wrote that some users may start seeing edited tweets in their news stream because, in fact, it is testing the long-awaited edit button.
"It's happening," she explained.
In a post on its blog, the platform specified that the edited tweets have been tested internally and that the feature will currently expand to subscribers of its Twitter Blue service - which provides special paid content - by the end of the month.
Tweets can be edited "a few times" for up to 30 minutes after first publication.
They will appear with an icon to make it obvious that they have been changed, users will be able to click on the "change history" to see previous versions.
"Like any new feature we are testing it with a smaller group of users to get feedback, identify and fix potential problems. Including how people could abuse the feature," the company points out.
Twitter said in April that it was testing out the tweet editing feature, the same day Elon Musk joined its board of directors.The entrepreneur asked his followers if they would like an edit button on the platform.
Now Musk is fighting a lawsuit with the company that wants to finalize the purchase deal.
