(ANSA) - VENICE, 03 SEPT - In the 60th anniversary edition of the Campiello Prize comes "Il Campiello dei Campielli", announced on 3 September by the president of the Jury of Literature Walter Veltroni.
It is a special recognition that will be virtually delivered on the final evening, at the Gran Teatro La Fenice.
The work chosen among those awarded over the years, which tells and represents the history of the Campiello Prize, is 'LaTregua' by Primo Levi, winner of the first edition of the Prize in 1963, "for the important civil testimony and for the extraordinary literary quality of the lyrics of him ".
"This recognition goes to Primo Levi as a symbol of these 60 years of literary history. Levi has won the Campiello twice, with 'La Tregua' and then with 'Se non ora Quando', in 1982, and is an author who probably best represents these 60 years of change in Italy and also of change in the prize. Tonight it will be Liliana Segre with a video to talk about Primo Levi and I believe that in this moment the memory, the knowledge of what has been - Primo Levi testified to this with a very high literary quality - are among the values by which this Award has always been inspired "Veltroni told ANSA.
