A plane is seen landing and disappearing in the north Queensland rainforest.

It may be flying at a very low altitude, but it is not on the normal flight paths in the area.

The Civil Aviation Authority claims that no missing planes were registered and that it is possible that this is a "Google Maps" malfunction.

Google Maps revealed an alien landing site?

(secureteam10 - YouTube)

A photo taken on Google Maps shows a passenger plane that appears to make an emergency landing in the north of Queensland's rainforest - and disappear.

The image left Google Maps users searching for answers.

The image appears to show either a huge jet making a landing in a clearing in the Cardwell Range, which is near the coast between Townsville and Cairns - or a plane flying improbably low over the area.

In the enlarged image the plane looks like a standard Airbus A320 or Boeing 737, both popular models used by many airlines.

The plane appears to be metallic gray in color and is heading south in the direction of East Townsville.

@catchupnews Aviation experts were quick to suggest that the picture was likely to be a so-called 'ghost image', a composite of several photos created as a result of a technical error.

The unmarked twin-engine aircraft is shown west of known flight paths along Queensland's north coast.

A spokeswoman for the Australian Air Transport Safety Bureau (CASA) told the Cairns Post that it was not aware of any missing passenger planes.

"There seems to be a phenomenon called ghosting and that may be what happened there," CASA said in a statement.

Google has not yet confirmed the things.

"Ghost" images appear on Google Maps from time to time.

Sharp-eyed users of the maps thought they saw another image of a sunken plane at the bottom of Lake Harriet in Minnesota, USA in 2016. However, Google later announced that it was a "ghost" image, created because the Google Maps satellite image is composed of several images. The solution It is rooted in the way Google processes the satellite images, and in the fact that the moment the image of the area was captured, a plane passed over it. In other words, Google's engine connected the lake and the plane above it into one image, just like flattening layers in a graphic editing software. A spokeswoman for Google's map service , Susan Cadrecha, said in response to a local newspaper at the time that "In short, every satellite image you see is actually made up of a collection of several images."

According to a Google representative, fast-moving objects such as airplanes often appear in images of the Lake Harriet area, which is just below the orbit aviation,

There is even a seemingly mysterious phantom island that can be seen off the coast of Australia.

It was believed that the island is 24 km long and 5 km wide, but there is no land area there and what can be seen on "Google Maps" is a dotted outline.

In the past "Google Maps" helped solve a murder mystery.

In 2019, app users directed Florida police to a submerged car, where the body of a man who had been missing for more than 20 years was found.

In 1997, 40-year-old William Moldt disappeared in the village of Wellington, Florida after he was seen returning home from a bar.

However, Google Maps users noticed the cloudy image of his car in the water, where he apparently ended up after driving drunk and losing control of his vehicle.
