(ANSA) - CAIRO, 03 SEPT - Senegalese Abdoulaye Bathily was appointed by the UN Secretary General, António Guterres, as his "special representative for Libya and head of the United Nations Support Mission in Libya" in the North African country (Unsmil), succeeding to the Slovakian Ján Kubiš.
He announces a statement published on the United Nations website.
Kubis resigned last November and "reservations" were formulated on Bathily's nomination by the government of Tripoli.
