It's a curious coincidence: while the Liechtenstein Parliament was discussing earthquake insurance in Vaduz on Thursday afternoon, the earth was shaking there.
"An insurance company lives from solidarity," said the Liechtenstein member of parliament Bettina Petzold-Mähr during the session in the plenary hall.
“The only problem is that if a strong earthquake occurs in Liechtenstein, then there is a very good chance that all residents will be affected” – and suddenly the image on the video recording shakes.
Petzold-Mähr laughs and says: "And there's a rumble in the hall!" She continues her arguments, but a few seconds later it's jerking again, more violently, and the water bottles on the table in front of her are being shaken.
Pätzold-Mähr looks around with wide-open eyes, a colleague can be heard from the off, he says: "It's getting violent," he interrupts the meeting because of possible aftershocks.
Later, the Austrian Seismological Service of the Central Institute for Meteorology and Geodynamics (ZAMG) reported: The main tremor had a magnitude of 4.0.
Some people fled into the open, small objects fell over.
The first rumble was a small foreshock.
The epicenter was southeast of Vaduz.
