The Syrian team participating in the international astronomy competition, which was held virtually in the German city of Cologne, won seven silver and seven bronze medals.
Syria was represented in the competition by a team chosen from among the employees of the Center for Applied Physics and Basic Sciences in Lattakia. The team included scientific and coordination cadres from the center in addition to 14 male and female students.
During his meeting today with the participants in the competition, Minister of Education Dr. Darem Tabbaa indicated that the competition is considered one of the most important competitions in the field of space sciences.
Minister Tabbaa pointed to the importance of linking basic sciences with each other to produce solutions to life problems and to enhance areas of cooperation with scientific research centers, stressing the importance of space science and the need to enhance students' knowledge of it through educational programs.
