New case of police violence in the United States.
A video from the body camera of one of the officers shows a police officer opening the door of a bedroom and then almost immediately shooting a young black man who was in a bed.
Donovan Lewis, 20, died at dawn last Tuesday in Columbus, Ohio, the capital of this northeastern US state.
He was unarmed, only an electronic cigarette was found near him.
“Absolutely unnecessary use of force”
An investigation has been opened and "the family will file a complaint," said the services of his lawyer, Rex Elliott, without further details.
He had denounced in a press release “an excessive and absolutely unnecessary use of force”.
Rallies are planned for this weekend in Columbus to “support the family” in mourning.
The event recalls other deaths of black people during interactions with the police, tragedies that sparked a major movement against racism and police brutality in 2020, "Black Lives Matter".
