A plane belonging to the Portuguese airline "TAP", which also operates flights from Lisbon to Israel, hit and killed two motorcyclists who were traveling on its runway in Guinea in West Africa last Friday.
A tap flight that took place on the company's A320neo aircraft, took off from Lisbon and landed at Ahmed Sékou Touré International Airport Conakry, the capital of Guinea.
According to the announcement of the Portuguese company, the accident occurred at 23:40 (local time) on Friday, when TAP Air Portugal flight TP1492, originating from Lisbon, hit two people riding a motorcycle on the runway.
Guinea's civil aviation authorities have launched an investigation.

"An investigation conducted by the Guinean Civil Aviation Authority (AGAC), with the support of the Ministry of Security and Defense (SOGEAC), is underway to investigate the causes and responsibilities of the parties involved," Conakry Airport tweeted.
"The identified driver was a security agent, an employee of a company that is responsible for protecting the airport facilities," the tweet said, expressing "sincere condolences to the bereaved families."
A press release issued yesterday by TAP stated that flight TP1492 had an accident on landing at Conakry Airport when a motorcycle attempted to cross the runway.
The occupant of the vehicle lost his life.
An official source from TAP confirmed to the Portuguese news agency "Lusa" that there were two fatal victims from the accident.

According to the Guineanews.org website, the two security guards who were riding the motorcycle "tried to cross the runway when they were pulled by one of the engines of the plane that had just landed."
The airline had to cancel the flight back to Lisbon.
