After the opposition of many film people to the Shomron Cinema Fund comes the counter-reaction: actors and creators issue a message of support for the fund.
The wording of the message that arrived this morning (Thursday): "We, the actors and creators from the field of cinema and television, see the Shomron Cinema Fund as a new home for creativity, welcome its existence and believe that it will be a fertile ground for important voices in Israeli cinema, some of which may not be adequately expressed today.
"We encourage the freedom of expression and creation of Israeli citizens regardless of religion, race, gender, political affiliation and place of residence. The State of Israel is like a complex mosaic, dialogue between its parts is needed and not boycotts - cinema should and can be an important element in this dialogue."
The initiators of the announcement are the actor Ohad Knoller and the director Yogev Yaft, who said: "The Samaria Cinema Fund is a welcome initiative that will give space to new and important voices in Israeli creativity. As those who see themselves as part of the pluralistic cultural world, we will do everything to promote and encourage platforms that contribute to the enrichment of the artistic discourse."
