TRIESTE - Art as a vehicle for becoming aware of a correct interaction between humanity and the planet: this is the philosophy of the "Earth in transformation" project, which from 3 to 24 September in the spaces of Magazzino 26 in Trieste will exhibit the result of the merger of two exhibitions, "Crisis Gaia" and "aQua", born in diametrically opposed places and in different circumstances, to which a hundred international artists have contributed.

These are photographs, videos, sculptures, installations, paintings and contaminations between the different artistic forms, which tell the ever faster transformation of the planet and signed by artists from the United States, Siberia, Australia, Ecuador, China, Chile, Argentina, Turkey , England, Russia, Korea, Colombia, Austria, Germany, Slovenia, Serbia, Croatia, Mexico and Italy.

The two exhibitions, presented on 31 August, will be inaugurated on Friday 2 September at 6.30 pm.

"Crisis Gaia" was born in Mexico by the artist and scientist Manolo Cocho and is dedicated to a reflection on biological life on Earth and on the human capacity to destroy or preserve it.

To express it, in various facets, there is for example the self-portrait Jane, by the Austrian Christiane Spatt, who is staged with a plush monkey, a childhood memory, holding her in her arms and nursing her, indicating nostalgia for the nature.

And, again, the Warm and Brave World series in which Slovenian photographer Bojan Golčar portrays an alienated landscape, using the manipulation and overlapping of images, scratches and imperfections, to offer his vision of what the dying world will look like tomorrow.

"aQua", curated by Maria Campitelli, reflects on the most precious liquid asset for life and the most tragically present in the disruption of the eco-system.

It was born and developed above all in Trieste and collects installations and various variations and contaminations pursued by the current expressive research.

Black Cube, by Cristina Lombardo, is a meditation on the rising of the waters, with a historical reference to the Universal Flood updated with the setting in Piazza Unità in Trieste.

With the installation I'm an Alien, Fabiola Faidiga creates a showy black box, landed on a distant planet, a remnant of the earth's explosion, from which one can grasp the last recorded words of an unheard exhortation: "Please open your hears and then act ".
