(ANSA) - NAIROBI, 05 SEPT - The Supreme Court of Kenya has confirmed the result of the presidential elections of 9 August which proclaimed the outgoing vice president William Ruto as the fifth President of the Republic of Kenya.
The 7 judges of the court, chaired by Martha Koome, rejected the appeals presented by the coalition Azimio La Umojache, which reports to the leader of the opposition Raila Odinga, who had accused the independent electoral commission of "civil coup".
Ruto succeeds President Uhuru Kenyatta, who had supported Odinga in the electoral campaign.
