In the case of the kidnapped jogger in Memphis, Tennessee, a body was found on Monday.

Investigators have now identified her as Eliza Fletcher, a teacher and granddaughter of a well-known Memphis businessman.

This was announced by the police on Twitter on Tuesday.

Eliza Fletcher was last seen around 4.30am last Friday.

The 34-year-old was jogging near the University of Memphis, according to surveillance camera images.

Cameras also filmed the actual kidnapping: A man gets out of a dark SUV, overpowers the woman, and drags her into the car.

Fletcher's husband called the police around 7 a.m. after she failed to return from a jog.

DNA on a pair of sandals

The police arrested a suspect in the missing persons case on Saturday.

His DNA was found on a pair of sandals near the crime scene.

The 38-year-old man has now also been charged with first-degree murder and first-degree murder in connection with kidnapping, police said.

Fletcher's family and more than 20 members of the media were present in the courtroom Tuesday morning for the indictment, at which the suspect also had to answer before a judge for other crimes.

Police also linked the vehicle they believe was used in the kidnapping to a person at a house where the arrested man lived.

Late Monday, police tweeted that a body had been found in a Memphis neighborhood, but that the identity of that person and the cause of death were still unknown.

A large police presence was deployed in the area where the body was found shortly after 5 p.m.

Memphis police searched several areas with dogs, SUVs and a helicopter over the long Laborday weekend in an attempt to identify the perpetrator and the body's identity.

Fletcher is the granddaughter of the late Joseph Orgill III, a Memphis hardware businessman and philanthropist.

The family released a video statement asking for help locating Fletcher and offering a $50,000 reward for information in the case.
