It is an unexpected video that has caused a sensation on the web since its release.
While attending the September 5 screening at the Venice Film Festival of
Don't Worry Darling
, Olivia Wilde's film in which he is one of the main actors, Harry Styles seems to have spat on his neighbor from seat and on-screen partner, Chris Pine.
Disturbing images that have generated many tweets and memes on social networks, some commentators defending the thesis of spitting, others being much more skeptical about the possibility of such an act.
It must be said that the event is the latest in a series of dramas that mark the genesis of this psychological thriller.
Don't Worry Darling
, which is scheduled for release on September 21, tells the story of Alice (Florence Pugh), an unhappy housewife whose life is turned upside down when she discovers the dark secrets of her husband, Jack (Harry Stiles).

The departure of Shia Labeouf
Let's go back: in 2021, comedian Shia LaBeouf, who was to interpret the character of Jack, leaves the project, however denying the rumors that he was ousted after an altercation on the set with Olivia Wilde.
The latter confirms, however, in an interview with
Variety,
to have fired the actor.
However, Shia LaBeouf manages to provide audio evidence to the media, demonstrating that the director was looking to keep him in the film.
In these recordings, the latter can be heard being disparaging towards the star of the film, Florence Pugh.
Meanwhile, Olivia Wilde ended her relationship with Jason Sudeikis to date Harry Styles, who replaced LaBeouf on set.

A tense press conference
It is as a result of the gossip against him that Florence Pugh would have done very little promotion for the film.
Absent from Venice during the press conference accompanying the film, officially due to her participation in the filming of
Dune 2,
she nevertheless went to the shores of La Serenissima for the preview.
But this notable absence has generated many rumors of a quarrel between the actress and Olivia Wilde.
Rumors that the latter tried to extinguish, qualifying, in front of the press, its main actress as a real "strength" for the film.
“When it comes to all the endless tabloid gossip and noise, the internet feeds on itself.
I don't feel obligated to contribute to it,” she said.
We can also note the "absent" attitude of actor Chris Pine during the promotion of the film at the Mostra, the latter not hiding his embarrassment and seeming particularly exasperated by Harry Styles' nonchalance in the face of the press and by his answers, sometimes out of step with the seriousness of the rest of the team.
In an interview given a few hours later on the red carpet, Chris Pine also praised Florence Pugh.
Styles, Wilde's boyfriend, reportedly saw this as a sign that the American actor was taking sides in the dispute between the two women.

The spit of discord?
These two facts could explain the particularly strange scene which thus occurred yesterday evening, and which is added to the series of tensions which parasitize the exit of film.
A video that has gone viral shows Harry Styles getting ready to take his place at the screening of
Don't Worry Darling
, and looks like he's spitting in the lap of Chris Pine, his seatmate.
The latter, applauding, stops his gesture and contemplates his crotch incredulously.
The 42-year-old actor then turns to the former
One Direction
star , then too busy adjusting his jacket and smiling at the audience, scanning the room and ignoring his partner's affected reaction.
But some question the reality of this spitting, claiming that Chris Pine was just playing with sunglasses placed between his legs.
A video by Variety
co-editor Ramin Setoodeh
, taken from another angle, instead appears to show Pine and Styles briefly chatting in relatively polite conversation.
The journalist even goes so far as to point out that the artist's face was not aligned with Chris' knees.
Whether proven or not, the episode contributes to haloing
Don't worry darling
with an aura of "cursed film": already, in April, Olivia Wilde had been given legal documents concerning the custody of Otis, the son she had with Jason Sudekis, while she was on stage to present the film at CinemaCon in Las Vegas.
Regarding the "spitting affair", neither Chris Pine nor Harry Styles have yet publicly commented on the alleged incident.
