"It really is one of the rarest and most coveted items you can put on the market," says Brahm Wachter, head of modern objects and collectibles at Sotheby's.
For the 1997-98 season is perhaps one of Jordan's fan favorites because Michael was at the peak of his abilities knowing it was his last chance with the Chicago Bulls for the NBA Championship.
Experts estimate the value of Jordan's jersey at between three and five million dollars.
It remains to be seen to what astronomical sum the buyers will raise the auction.
In June 2022, a Kobe Bryant jersey had already gone for $3.7 million, a record for a basketball jersey.
If Jordan's is over $3.7 million, then it will become the most expensive basketball jersey sold at auction.
